Updates - 2024

April

As our usual cosy meeting room was being used for an outside event, 16 keen PROBUS crafters met in the gym at Parkland instead, and we were joined by two Parkland residents.

Judy brought along a very large and beautiful quilt to display, while Maureen showed us a treasured sweater from which she was going to duplicate the pattern. Others worked on rug hooking, red scarves, embroidery, knitting and crochet. One of the Parkland ladies showed us fidget muffs that she makes. Also, Vita brought in a bagful of blankets, hats and scarves which will be delivered to the volunteer group at Ajax-Pickering Hospital for distribution, as needed.

Not our usual surroundings but a bright and beautiful day.

March

We had a busy and chatty March meeting with 17 attending. A new member, Elizabeth Long, brought along a rug-hooking project. Many were knitting and crocheting and some quilting works were on display. Also, a few more red scarves were brought in contributing to our donation to Aids Durham, which will be made at the end of November. So, if you're looking for a small hobby and have a bit of time on your hands, Aids Durham would welcome red scarves (size 6" by 60").

February

This Family Day, 13 ladies met at Parkland Lifestyle Residences to exchange news, patterns and ideas for future projects and admire current ones. There was knitting, crocheting and embroidery on display and lots of lively discussion.

January

The first meeting of 2024 involved fifteen ladies catching up with Christmas and New Year's events while enjoying an excellent afternoon tea. New projects, including socks, blankets, scarves, embroidery and a smocking machine were displayed. Also, patterns were exchanged and requested. It was a good turnout for a very cold winter day.
